(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton baseball team played a tripleheader against Fisher College on Sunday and the Roos won game two 3-1 and lost the opener 6-0 and the final game 4-1.

The two teams were making up a game from Saturday when weather and darkness forced the cancellation of the second game of a doubleheader. Freshman Khalil Bratton (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) pitched the Roos to the game-two victory, as he held the Falcons to three hits and struck out five batters with three walks in seven innings to earn his first collegiate win.

SUNY Canton scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth. Clinging to a 1-0 lead, the Roos took advantage of two Fisher errors and an RBI-double from senior Gerardo Torres (Theresa, N.Y.) to push across two runs and stretch their lead to 3-0. Fisher got one back in the top of the seventh, but that’s all they could muster as Bratton forced the Falcons to ground out to short to end the game.

Torres finished with two hits, and senior Tom Darling (Oswego, N.Y.) and freshmen Eddy Morel (Lake Worth, Fla.) and Kyle Sacks (Clifton Park, N.Y.) each added a single.

Jefry Castro tossed a one-hit shutout leading the Falcons to the win in the opener. Castro struck out five batters and didn’t allow a walk in seven solid innings.

Morel had the Roos lone hit in game one, and sophomore Dom Deliberti (Staten Island, N.Y.) allowed eight hits and two walks with one strikeout in seven innings.

In the third and final game, Fisher struck first with one run in the top of the second. The Roos came back to tie the game in the bottom of the third when senior Michael Zelyez (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) led off with a double to center field and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch. The Falcons went back ahead with a run in the top half of the next inning, and then tacked on two more in the top of the fifth for the final score.

Zelyez finished with two hits, and Torres and freshman Braden Giffin (Lake Worth, Fla.) also doubled.

Sophomore James Amelotte (Cornwall, Ontario) went the distance fanning four batters in seven innings while surrendering seven hits and a pair of walks.

Joshua Boyd tripled and doubled to lead Fisher.

The Roos are back in action on Tuesday, April 23 hosting SUNYIT in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
