Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men and women's cross country teams took part in the Hoffman Invitational hosted by St. Lawrence University on Saturday as both teams defeated rival SUNY Potsdam.
The women finished seventh out of eight teams, while the men placed ninth out of the 10 team field. The Lady Roos finished with a team score of 223, edging Potsdam by four points. Meanwhile, the men finished with 268 points compared to the Bears' 284 points.
Megan Mydosh (Warwick, NY) led the women's team finishing in 36th place in the highly competitive field with a time of 25:35 over the 6-kilometer course. The race was a personal best for Mydosh at that distance, as she bettered her time from the Hoffman Invitational two years ago by six seconds.
Jess Nagy (Budd Lake, NJ) also had a career day coming across the line in 28:39, improving her previous 6K best by more than two minutes. Joelle Percy (Black River, NY) clocked a time of 30:22 for the Roos. Kennys Lawson (Brooklyn, NY) finished in 31:47 in her first race with SUNY Canton, while Laura DiFrenza (Salt Point, NY) crossed the line right behind her in 32:03.
Freshman Shawn Deibel (Albion, NY) led the Roos on the men's side finishing in 29:57, while sophomore Zachary Doyle (Oneonta, NY) followed in 30:22. Jon Flint (Queensbury, NY) clocked a time of 31:14, while Andrew Wilson (Bronx, NY) finished in 34:15. Dan Loskowitz (Stuyvesant, NY) and Bryant Cotey (Norwood, NY) rounded out the SUNY Canton runners finishing in 35:02 and 35:14, respectively.
