Johnson, VT – On Saturday at the Johnson State Invitational both Men's and Women's teams garnered their first team titles of the 2017 season.
Madeline Hewitt and Samantha Smith sped around the 5-kilometer course finishing in 5th (25:23) and 8th (26:34) place for the Roos. They were followed by Kim McCarthy in 11th place (27:00), Allison Ford in 16th place (28:30) and Kaitlyn Trusty in 17th place (28:58) to round out the top five.
The women claimed the victory posting just 47 points on the day, coming in just ahead of host, Johnson State (52), while Green Mountain (56) followed in third place and Southern Vermont (61) came in close behind in fourth place.

WOMEN'S TEAM RESULTS
The men faired equally as well this weekend having similar results on the 8-kilometer course. The Roos finished with just 50 points, taking a close one from Paul Smith's (52) and Southern Vermont (59), each coming in second and third, respectively. Green Mountain (74) finished in fourth place while Johnson State (112) finished in fifth place.
The Roos posted four top ten finishes including Deven Grant (31:47), Paul Ford (32:17), Jonathan Dunham (32:57), and Luke Ducharme (33:41). Grant, Ford, and Dunham finished the course in less than 33 minutes placing 6th, 7th, and 8th on the day. Anthony Fazio rounded out the top 5 finishing in 19th place (36:32).
