CORNWALL, Ont. -- The Cornwall River Kings won their first ever exhibition game in franchise history 8-4 over the Sorel Tracy HC Carvena Saturday at the civic complex in front of over 1,600 fans.
The River Kings got out to 4-1 lead in the 1st period thanks to a pair of goals from Shawn Collymore, a shorthanded marker from Maxim Chamberland and a single from Nicholas Segouin.
A three goal 2nd period for Sorel saw them climb back into the game trailed by just one 5-4.
Christian Deschene had two power play goals with the other coming from David Dagenais.
Cornwall's only goal of the 2nd came from Anthony Pittarelli shorthanded.
Goals by Steve McJannet, Steve Simoes, and Sasha Pokuluk helped seal the win.
In goal, Maxime Daigneault got the start for the River Kings allowing 4 goals on 19 shots in the first two periods. Loic Lacasse played the third stopping all 10 shots he faced.
