Justine Reyes inched closer to the 100 career point mark with a goal and an assist to lead the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 4-2 win over Union in an ECAC Hockey contest on Saturday night in Schenectady.

Reyes, who assisted on the first goal of the game and gave the Saints a 3-0 lead with a goal late in the second period, now has 99 points in 130 career games. Rachael Smith also scored a goal and added an assist for the Saints.

The game was the Saints' first since December 8. The win snapped a four-game losing streak and moved St. Lawrence back to .500 on the season (10-10-1 overall, 5-4-0 ECAC Hockey).

"It was good to get that win," said St. Lawrence head coach Chris Wells '92. "It's been a good month and change since we have had one and it feels good. The team came back in great shape from the break and we were able to get off to a good start with a lot of jump."

Smith gave the Saints a 1-0 lead just 59 seconds into the game, taking advantage of a Union line change. Amanda Butterfield sent a pass from her own red line into the Union zone, and Reyes tipped puck to Smith, who beat Union goaltender Amelia Miller one-on-one for her ninth goal of the season.

Kalie Grant gave the Saints a 2-0 lead halfway through the second period. Kayla Vespa picked up a loose puck right in front of the Saints' own bench and found Grant open and skating towards the net. Grant beat Miller from in deep for her fourth goal of the season.

Reyes increased the lead to 3-0, scoring on a rebound off a shot by Smith, with two minutes to play in the middle frame. Maggie McLaughlin added an assist on the play.

Union scored a power play goal with less than six minutes to play, with Cassidy Michalicka tipping in a shot from the point by Cheyenne Harris, to cut the lead to two.

Katelynn Russ scored another goal for the Dutchwomen on a deflection with an extra attacker with just 18.2 seconds to play, but Nadine Edney put the game away with an empty net goal with just 7.8 seconds left.

Grace Harrison made 18 saves to earn the victory, while Allison Compeau stopped two shots in eight and a half minutes in her first collegiate appearance.

St. Lawrence outshot the Dutchwomen 43-22, with Miller making 39 saves for Union.

The Saints will face Rensselaer at Houston Field House in Troy on Saturday at 3 p.m.
