ONEONTA, N.Y.—SUNY Oneonta (10-10, 7-6 SUNYAC) pulled away from the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (2-17, 1-12) in the final minutes for an 82-67 SUNYAC victory on Saturday afternoon. Senior captain Zac Adams (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed six rebounds and senior guard Rishawd Hendricks (Brooklyn, N.Y./Mount Zion Christian Academy) totaled 12 points and six boards. Lawrence Coleman (17-10) and Mikey McElroy (13-11) each led the Red Dragons with double-doubles.

The Bears took the lead in the first minute and didn't relinquish it until over 16 minutes into the contest. Hot shooting helped Potsdam stay out in front of Oneonta. At 8:33, freshman guard Tishsean Emmanuel (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) laid in a basket to start a 9-2 run. Adams tipped in a rebound with 6:36 remaining to give Potsdam its biggest lead of the game at 30-22. The Red Dragons quickly made up the ground, but didn't take the lead until 2:11 when Seth Thomsen drained a three to make it 38-36. A jumper from Potsdam junior guard Marquis Lee (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) closed the scoring in the first half and the Bears trailed 40-38 at the break.

Senior forward Conor Engle (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) tied the game a minute into the final period with a layup. He then stole the ball to help set up an Adams bucket to put Potsdam up 42-40 with 18:31 to play. Over the next eight minutes the game was tied seven times and Oneonta never led by more than three points. At 10:34, Hendricks hit two free throws to give the Bears a 55-54 lead. However, the Red Dragons countered with an 8-0 run to grab a 62-55 advantage. Two more free throws from Emmanuel and another Lee jumper cut the deficit to just three with 7:45 to play. It was as close as Potsdam would get as Oneonta built its lead to double digits over the next four minutes. A Coleman dunk with 28 seconds left gave the Red Dragons their largest lead of the game, but Lee capped the scoring with a layup for the 82-67 final.

Lee and Emmanuel each posted eight points on the afternoon. Junior guard Joe Estramonte (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich) just missed a double-double with a seven points and nine rebounds.

Zach Mager scored 16 points for Oneonta and Kareem Williams contributed 12 points and eight rebounds to the Red Dragons' effort.

Next weekend, the Bears head to Central New York to face Oswego State and SUNY Cortland. They square off with the Lakers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and the Red Dragons at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
