POTSDAM, N.Y.--- The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (4-9-1, 0-7 SUNYAC) fell 7-1 to the visiting SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons (8-3-3, 5-1-1 SUNYAC) on Senior Day. Junior forward Witman Hernandez (Huntington, N.Y./Walt Hitman) scored four goals to lead the Red Dragons. Sophomore midfielder Justin Crovetto (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) scored his first collegiate goal for the Bears and junior goalie Jakeb Mitchell (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) made 13 saves.

Hernandez opened the scoring by sending a bullet into the net for a 1-0 lead just 1:24 into the game. Potsdam answered eight minutes later. Crovetto slithered through three defenders on the right wing and drew out Red Dragon's senior goalkeeper Nicholas Giordano (East Northport, N.Y./Commack), beating him to tie the game at 9:15. Oneonta responded a minute later. Hernandez scored again when freshman forward Jeremy Pantoni (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) fed him the ball close to the goal and he found the back of the net at 10:22. Oneonta struck again when sophomore midfielder Scott Cebollero (Commack, N.Y./Commack) scored off a header cross from Hernandez. Mitchell made 10 saves in the half to keep the Bears in the game. Potsdam nearly got one back before the half closed. In the closing moments, freshman midfielder Sabastian Matos (Huntington, N.Y./Half Hallow Hills East) sent a shot that bounced just wide of the post but didn't go in and the score remained 3-1 at the break.

The Red Dragons pulled away in the final 45 minutes. Senior midfielder Alejandro Ruiz (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) opened the second half with a goal for Oneonta at 51:11. Hernandez scored the next two in the 62nd and 64th minutes, respectively. Freshman midfielder Matt Howe (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) closed the scoring with a tally at the 67:17 mark.

Giordano stopped two shots for the win. Bears freshman goalie Conor Callan (Piermont, N.Y./Tappan Zee) didn't face a shot in the last 11:04.

Prior to the game, Bears seniors Michael Hunter-Wofford (Sacramento, Calif./Orange Coast College), Matt Saddlemire (Gansevoort, N.Y./Schuylerville), Jorge Ferrer (Syracuse, N.Y./Henniger), Tyler Mullery (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) and Danny Anglim (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) were honored for their contributions to the program.

The Bears wrap up conference play next weekend. Potsdam travels to Fredonia on Friday for a 3 p.m. contest and the Buffalo State for a 1 p.m. match.
