The St. Lawrence women's track 400 relay team just missed the SLU record and Caroline Raue and Elizabeth Edwards shattered their personal bests in the 5000 meters and 10,000 meters respectively, moving up the Division III national performance list, and the women's 4x100 and 4x400 relays ran their best times of the season in competition at the Penn Relays on Thursday.

Raue, who ranks 8th nationally in Division III in the steeplechase, ran 17:09.21, just seven seconds off Wendy Pavlus' SLU record, in the 5000 and finished 19th in the field in the Olympic Development Women's 5K which featured both collegiate and club team runners. Her 5000 meter time will move her well into the top 10 nationally with the top 22 women in each event qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championship at the end of the spring season.

Edwards ran the eighth fastest 10,000 meters of the season among Division III runners and finished 10th overall in the College Women's 10,000 Championship Thursday night. She was the first Division III finisher in the race among three of 27 entrants with a time of 36:04.05.

The Saint 4x400 relay will move into the top 25 nationally after running 3:58.01 and finishing fourth in a heat won by Fordham. While the Saints did not advance to the finals, the time turned in by Jessica Marini, Hannah Kinsey, Marisa Turner and Carly Stine was one of the few sub-4:00 times in program history and just .20 off the record which was set in 1998. The top 16 teams in Division III qualify for the NCAA championship and the Saints are 2.4 seconds off the current 16th best time.

Divya Biswal competed in the triple jump at the Penn Relays on Friday, but fouled on her first three attempts. The Saints will cnotinue competition with individuals in the NYSCTC multi-event championship at Ithaca on Sunday and Monday and will compete as a team at the Cornell Invitational on Sunday. SLU hosts the NYSCTC Championships next weekend.

The 4x100 team of Stine, Kinsey, Marini and Sydney Bell ran 50.67 and was among some fast company as the University of Houston won the heat in 45.85 with South Carolina second and Duke third. The Saints were eighth in the heat and 68th overall in the field.

In addition to running on the 4x400, Turner also competed in the high jump on Thursday and finished 16th with a jump of 1.60 meters.

Divya Biswal and Mike Scott are scheduled to compete for the Saints on Friday, Biswal in the triple jump and Scott in the high jump.
