After 90 scoreless minutes, senior captain Mark Provost scored three minutes into the first overtime to lift the St. Lawrence men's soccer team over Union College 1-0 in Schenectady on Friday afternoon.
The Saints had their fair share of opportunities in regulation, outshooting the Dutchmen 16-2, but couldn't capitalize until extra time.
Sophomore Noah Bunton set up the game-tying goal on a set piece off a corner kick opportunity for St. Lawrence. After fighting with Union defenders for control of the ball, Provost was able to get enough on a shot to beat Union goalkeeper Ryan Carter for the game-winning score.
The goal is the third of the season for the Toronto native, and his second game winner this season. The assist is the first point of the season for Noah Bunton.
St. Lawrence goalkeeper Sean Houston picked up his fifth win of the season without having to make a save. The Saints are now 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Liberty League headed into tomorrow afternoon's 2 p.m. match up with No. 18 RPI.
