Preston, Higgins named Assistant Field Hockey Coaches at St. Lawrence University

Two former St. Lawrence University field hockey players will join head coach Fran Grembowicz on the coaching staff for the 2015 edition of the Saints.

Haley Preston, a 2013 graduate of St. Lawrence and Kate Higgins, a 2014 graduate, have been named assistant field hockey coaches for the 2015 season.

Preston played three years of field hockey for the Saints before missing her senior year due to injury. She served as a student assistant coach for the fall of 2012. A three-time NFHCA All-Academic selection and two-time Liberty League All-Academic, Haley was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee as an undergraduate and played in 28 career games for the Saints.

Preston served as an intern in the Student-Athlete Academic Services department at the University of Akron in 2012 and has been Assistant Director of Admissions at Western Reserve Academy in Ohio. She served as head field hockey, assistant boys hockey and assistant girls lacrosse coach at Western Reserve. Preston will also be an assistant coach for the women's lacrosse program.

Higgins joins the Saint staff after serving as an assistant field hockey coach at Middlebury College for the 2014 season. She also coached the Middlebury Union High School junior varsity lacrosse team in 2013 and was a Lacrosse the Nations volunteer program in Nicaragua in 2009.

A honorable mention All Liberty League selection as a senior Higgins started all but one game in her SLU career, appearing in 65 consecutive games. She scored three goals and had nine assists in her four seasons of varsity competition.
