BUFFALO, N.Y.- The Buffalo St. Bengals (12-3, 5-3 SUNYAC) defeated SUNY Potsdam by a final score of 86-63. Four players scored in double figures for the Bengals, led by sophomore Nico McLean who finished with 17 points.

Junior Curtis Pierce was solid in his return from an injury that forced him to miss the previous game at St. Lawrence on Tuesday night. The team’s leading scorer and rebounder on the year finished the game with a team-high 14 points and also pulled down four rebounds. The Bears struggled from long range as they converted just 1-of-10 from behind the arc and shot 44.4 percent from the field for the game. Sophomore Rob Duquette chipped in with nine points and also had four rebounds.

The Bears (4-11, 2-6) trailed 45-28 at the half as the Bengals were on fire from the three-point line. Buffalo St. hit 7-of-15 from long range, a torrid 46.7 percent. The Bengals didn’t slow down in the second half and converted on 42.9 percent from three and finished with 10 made three pointers on the night. Sophomore Roderick Epps was 4-of-9 from long distance on his way to scoring 12 points.

Buffalo St. held a 38-33 rebounding advantage over the Bears and forced 21 Potsdam turnovers as the team erased a two game losing streak which dropped them out of the top-25. The Bengals had been ranked 21st in the nation before back-to-back losses.

Potsdam returns to action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Fredonia for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
