Potsdam Ice Storm 16U Girls take first round national championship game from San Jose Jr Sharks with 3-2 overtime win

IRVING, Tex. -- The Potsdam Ice Storm 16 and Under Girls beat the San Jose Jr. Sharks with a 3-2 overtime win in the opening round of the 16U national tournaments.

Megan Plumb scored first, in the first period.

San Jose responded with a tie at the beginning of the second period to tie the contest at one apiece.

Jordyn Clothier scored Potsdam's second goal, assisted by Ally Miller. San Jose tied it again with a goal in the third period, sending the game into overtime.

Both teams were still deadlocked with no scoring during the five-minute sudden death overtime, making the outcome dependent on a shootout.

Margaret Troiano, Ally Miller, and Megan Plumb all scored in the shootout with Plumb's final goal netting the winner for Potsdam.

In net, Maddy Dillabough made 31 saves for Potsdam.

The Ice Storm 16U is coached by Head Coach Christin Powers and Assistant Coaches Rick Miller and John Hart.
