Canton, NY – Jessica Pele scored a pair of goals to carry the SUNY Canton women's hockey team to a 2-2 overtime tie v. visiting Buffalo State on Saturday.
The senior captain tied the game at two with just 25 seconds remaining in regulation, just 20 seconds after Head Coach Dave LaBaff pulled goaltender Brooke Susac for the skater advantage.
Neither team found the back of the net in the opening period as the Roos held a 10-6 shots on goal advantage. Buffalo State took the lead early in the second period on an Emma Ruggiero goal.
The Roos (0-1-1) responded at 2:35 of the third when Pele lit the lamp off passes from Hannah Brady and Ally Stout.
The Bengals (1-0-1) regained the lead six minutes later when Lila Toczek scored her second of the season.
Brooke Susac made 22 saves for the Roos, while Bri Gawronski turned aside 39 shots as the Roos outshot the Bengals, 41-24.
The women's hockey team returns to the ice on Friday when it visits Salve Regina University at 7 p.m.
