Harrisville, RI – Jessica Pele scored twice and Tess Adams added a goal and assist, while Brooke Susac recorded a 13 save shutout as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team cruised to a 6-0 road win at Nichols College on Saturday.
After opening a 1-0 lead at 9:33 of the second period off Pele's first score of the night the Roos exploded for five third period goals to secure their first Colonial Hockey Conference win of the season.
Pele gave the Roos (2-1-0, 1-1-0 CHC) a 2-0 lead at 9:52 of the third off passes from Ashley Gillies and Sydney Jordan. Tess Adams then got in on the scoring off the setup from Jordan and Gillies just over a minute later.
The Roos rounded out their scoring with goals off the sticks of Grace Page and empty-netters from Katie Ferguson and Whitney Bernier.
Susac made 13 saves in her first shutout of the season, while Cassandra Goyette stopped 28 shots while surrendering four scores.
The women's hockey team is off next weekend before hosting Salem State University in its home-opener on Friday, November 17th at 4 p.m. in the Roos House.
