Senior Wendy Pavlus improved her own St. Lawrence record in the 5000 meters by five seconds and easily met NCAA automatic qualifying in winning the ECAC Championship at that distance at the Armory in New York City on Friday.
Pavlus won the race by six seconds, running 16:54.41, the best time by four seconds in Division III this season on the conversion for a banked track. Megan Derby finished 25th in the same race in 18:40.21.Pavlus' time was also a Division III record for the Armory facility and an ECAC record.
Lisa Baron also scored for the Saints in the ECAC meet, finishing sixth in the shot put on Friday with a 12.24 meter throw. Tori Bean finished 12th in the triple jump with a 10.73 meter throw and the Distance Medley Relay team of Katie Loignon, Kelsey Rebehn, Liz Atwood and Jacquelynn Lemme finished 17th in 12:40.79, just off the SLU record.
Jacquelynn Lemme was 16th in 3:02.24 in the 1000 with Katie Loignon 19th while Caroline Raue finished 32nd in the 3000 meters on Saturday. The Saint 4x800 team of Liz Atwood, Toria Koutras, Lemme and Loignon ran 9:55.50.
The Saints were 21st as a team in a 45-team field.
