POTSDAM, N.Y.—Oswego State (5-9, 3-3 SUNYAC) used a late push to stop a rally by the SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (1-12, 0-6) and earn a 77-66 victory on Saturday afternoon. Bears senior captain Carli Reynolds (Indian Lake, N.Y./Indian Lake) had a game-high 22 points and junior forward Katie LaVoie (Malone, N.Y./Franklin Academy) finished with 13 points. Sophomore guard Mary Mazzella (Peru, N.Y./Peru) led the Lakers with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Oswego methodically built a 12-4 lead over the first seven minutes of the contest, but a 13-5 Potsdam run knotted the score at 17-all at the 11:20 mark. Senior captains Colleen McNamara (Guelph, Ontario/Our Lady of Lourdes) and Reynolds drained back-to-back threes to even the score. The Lakers slowly built their lead back to seven and led by five at the break.

Oswego extended its advantage to 48-38 with 12:34 to play, but the Bears answered with some their best basketball of the contest. A 12-4 Potsdam run, capped by a Reynolds layup got the Bears within 52-50 with 9:59 to play. However, the Lakers countered with an 18-5 run to grab a 70-55 lead at the 4:41 mark. Potsdam finished the contest on an 11-7 run, but ran out of time.

Bears senior captain Veronica Sapp (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) just missed a double-double with 12 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Meghan Driscoll (Troy, N.Y./Troy) had 10 points, seven assists and five boards.

Oswego sophomore guard Alison Anunziato (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Averill Park) scored 14 points and junior guard Heather Hebert (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) added 13 points and eight rebounds.
