Senior goaltender Jody O'Neill made 30 of his 38 saves in the second and third periods to protect a Dartmouth College lead and the Big Green finished off a ECAC first round playoff sweep of St. Lawrence with a 4-1 victory at Appleton Arena Saturday night.

Dartmouth won a playoff road series for the first time in its program history, taking game one on Friday 6-3, while the Saints were eliminated in a home playoff series for the first time since 1996, ending their season at 14-19-3. Dartmouth, 13-14-4, will await the results of others series before discovering its quarterfinal opponent.

The Big Green scored a pair of first period goals on just five shots in the period and they stood up the rest of the way as O'Neill held St. Lawrence to just one goal for second time this season at Appleton Arena. He beat the Saints 3-1 with a 20 save night in November

"O'Neill was a big part of it," said Saint associate head coach Mike Hurlbut. "He had a great weekend and Dartmouth supported him well defensively. We contributed to it too, though, as we missed some rebounds we really should have had. It was a disappointing way to end the year."

Freshman defenseman Andy Simpson opened the scoring for Dartmouth just 4:27 into play as his shot from the right point found its way through traffic in front of Saint goalie Matt Weninger for Simpson's first career goal. Dartmouth made it a 2-0 game just under three minutes later when Matt Lindblad finished off a two-on-one rush , taking Tyler Sikura's goal mouth pass and scoring his sixth of the year

The Saints cut the lead to 2-1 2:29 into the second period when Kyle Flanagan sent the puck in front and it was tipped by Greg Carey past O'Neill. It was Carey's 15th goal of the year and Flanagan recorded his 100th career point with the assist, but the goal was the only one the Saints could muster despite a ton of chances in the final 40 minutes.

Dartmouth made it a 3-1 game at 15:02 of the second when Doug Jones flipped the puck into the net as Weninger, who had 18 saves in a solid effort, was tangled with Dartmouth forward Eric Robinson. The play was reviewed by the officials and ruled a goal

The Big Green iced it when Nick Walsh blocked a Saint shot with SLU skating with an extra attacker and Walsh hit the empty net with a long backhand.
