Claire O'Neil shot rounds of 86 and 82 and finished tied for 21st as St. Lawrence University's women's golf team opened its 2014 spring season at the Vassar Invitational.
O'Neil's 168 total led the Saints, who finished eighth in a 12-team field with a two round total of 704 strokes. Williams won the tournament with 633 with Ithaca second at 650 and Cortland third at 658.
Senior Kelly Hale had the best round of the tournament for the Saints, bouncing back from an opening 101 with a 79 in round two. Her 180 total tied for 39th along with teammate Augusta Mayer, who shot 89-91. Laura Gay was one stroke back at 181 with 92-89 and Lexie Haehl shot 96 and 97 for a 193 total.
The Saints will play in the Amherst Invitational next weekend.
