Keuka Park, NY – A strong finish to the first half helped host Keuka College earn a 63-48 victory against visiting SUNY Canton in women's basketball action on Tuesday.
The Roos (5-12) held a 16-13 lead nine minutes into the contest after a Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) lay-up. The Wolfpack (4-11) outscored SUNY Canton 22-9 the remainder of the half to take a 35-25 lead into intermission.
Keuka extended the lead to 16 early on in the second half looking to create a gap. SUNY Canton trimmed the deficit to single digits getting with 51-42 with 5:44 to play after Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) split a pair of free throws. The Roos were unable to get any closer as the hosts held on down the stretch.
Sayer led the Roos with 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals on 5-for-6 shooting. Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) tallied 12 points, while Tatiana Laroche (Elmont, NY) added 11 points and seven boards.
Erica Pendrak paced the Wolfpack with 15 points, while Amanda Kubitz (13) and Mackenzie Cole (10) also finished in double figures. Keuka shot 48 percent from the field, while SUNY Canton hit 38 percent of its shots.
The women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday when it hosts the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at 2 p.m. in the Roos House.
