PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—Ninth-ranked Plattsburgh State (13-5-1, 8-1-1 SUNYAC) scored three second period goals en route to a 4-1 win over the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (6-12-1, 3-7). Dillan Fox led the Cardinals with two goals and sophomore defenseman Dan McCamey scored the lone goal for the Bears.

Potsdam spent much of the opening period on the defensive, killing off four Plattsburgh power plays. However, it was Fox opening the scoring at the 5:46 mark with an even-strength goal. Bears freshman goaltender Jon Hall (Dexter, N.Y./Stouffville Spirit) was especially strong early, turning away 16 shots in the first period. The Cardinals outshot the Bears 17-3 in the first 20 minutes and led 1-0 at the break.

The Bears generated more offense in the second period, building a 13-12 shot advantage, but it was Plattsburgh that padded its lead. Nick Jensen made it 2-0 with a shorthanded tally at 5:07. Michael Cassidy tripled the lead at 8:50 and Fox capped the Cardinals' scoring at four with his second marker at 18:34. Plattsburgh led 4-0 after 40 minutes.

McCamey finally got Potsdam on the board at 3:42 of the final stanza with an assist from sophomore forward Ryan Miller. The third period was the Bears' best of the contest, but they couldn't claw their way any closer. Potsdam generated several strong scoring opportunities, but Cardinals goalie Mathieu Cadieux slammed the door on the 4-1 victory.

Hall finished with a career-high 37 saves, while Cadieux stopped 24 shots to earn the win. Potsdam was 0-5 on the man advantage and Plattsburgh was 0-7.

The game was the 100th meeting between the two programs as varsity teams.

The Bears are back in action next weekend as they end their epic 13-game road trip in Western New York. Potsdam faces Fredonia next Friday at 7 p.m. and Buffalo State at the same time on Saturday.
