The North Country weather didn't put a stop to the fourth-ranked St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team as they captured their first Liberty League win of the season, defeating Union 13-7 Saturday afternoon at North Country Field.

The Saints were led by Andrew Jarrett with four goals and one assist, while both Jamie DeNicola and Jordan Dow netted two goals each. Conor Healey added one goal and three assists, while Austin Nadeau and Cal Hynson added one goal apiece for the Saints. Ryan Brigham commanded the field winning 70 percent of his face-offs and collecting 10 ground balls. Steel White and Cooper Warden each caused two turnovers for St. Lawrence.

The Dutchmen were first on the board when Peter Richardson netted a low shot past goaltender Alex Terry, about one minute and 40 seconds into the first quarter. Healey and Jarrett responded with two goals to give the Saints a 2-1 lead. St. Lawrence dominated the scoreboard by holding the lead for the remainder of the game. Jack Scheufele was fed a shot from Jordan Cooper for the Dutchmen's seventh goal of the game but Union's late rally fell short, at the end of the third quarter only bringing the game within one. The Saints fired another four goals in the fourth quarter to close out the game.

John Edmonds, Daniel Kycia, Josh Willis, Kerry Lyne, Jordan Cooper, Scheufele and Richardson all tallied one goal for the Dutchmen, while Sam Bebout collected 12 saves playing the majority of the game in net for Union.

The Dutchmen and the Saints both capitalized on 50 percent of their man-up opportunities, while St. Lawrence outshot the Dutchmen 45-27, with shots on goal 25-10.

St. Lawrence improved to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play as the Dutchmen fell to 3-2 and 0-1.

The Saints will travel to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y., for a neutral site contest against the Nazareth Golden Flyers on Tuesday night.
