Despite erasing two one-goal deficits on Friday night, the No. 3 St. Lawrence men's soccer team fell 3-2 to the University of Rochester at Edwin Fauver Stadium. The Saints, now 2-1 on the season, finished the game with a 12-3 edge in shots.

The teams exchanged goals early in the first half until the Yellowjackets Nick Pastore netted his second of the night and eventual game-winning goal in the 33rd minute with a volley from the left side of the box.

Rochester (2-1) opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Jarvis D'Souza beat Saints goalkeeper Aaron Costello with a header off a corner kick. Jeff Fafinski played the ball into the box for the Yellowjackets and Alex Swanger flicked it into the middle to D'Souza for the finish.

Junior forward Morgan Smith pulled the Saints even just four minutes later when he collected a loose ball in the middle of the field and used his speed to beat out a Rochester back and drove a shot past keeper Michael Shatkin.

In the 25th minute, Pastore scored his first of two on the night with a hard shot along the turf. Costello had a read on the ball, but it hit off of his hands and trickled into the net.

But six minutes later, the Saints once again erased the deficit and pulled even at 2-2 when junior Jonathan Mendoza found classmate Seyefe Brouk cutting across the top of the box. With Shatkin coming off his line to challenge, Brouk buried a hard shot into the lower right corner of the net.

Pastore put the Yellowjackets ahead for good just over a minute later with D'Souza assisting on the play.

Shatkin finished with three saves and the Yellowjackets defense was able to weather consistent pressure by the Saints in the second half, as chances by Austin Roney, Christian Barral-Arteta and Brouk were all thwarted.

St. Lawrence will look to salvage the second half of it's road trip with a game at SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
