POTSDAM, N.Y.—No. 23 Buffalo State (12-1-2, 7-0 SUNYAC) scored three first half goals and made them stand up in a 3-1 win over the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (9-5-1, 2-4-1) on Saturday afternoon. Junior midfielder Amanda Lingenfelter (Alexandria Bay, N.Y./Alexandria) scored for the Bears.

The Bengals started quickly. After a corner kick and two blocked shots, Buffalo State senior forward Catherine Mammoser (Lackawanna, N.Y./Eden) drove home a loose ball just 2:06 into the contest. Six minutes later, Potsdam senior goalie Bri Thibeau (Salem, N.Y./Salem) robbed Bengals junior forward Tianna Hatch (Endicott, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) with a diving stop to her right. However, 22 seconds later Hatch made up for it by clanging a shot off the right post and into the goal after a pass from senior forward Melissa Smith (N. Tonawonda, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield). At the 16:28 mark, junior midfielder Victoria Colletti (New Windsor, N.Y./Newburgh Free) headed home a corner kick off the foot of Mammoser to make it 3-0. Potsdam created more offensive pressure as the half wound down, but still trailed by three at the break.

Buffalo State continued to hold the upper hand in play in the second half, but Thibeau was sharp between the sticks. The Bears' first strong opportunity came with 26:40 remaining. Sophomore forward Olivia Seamans (Bolton Landing, N.Y./Bolton) broke free at the right side of the box and ripped a shot off the left post. Potsdam finally broke through at 72:01. Sophomore midfielder Rylie Murray (Berkley, Mich./Berkley) played the ball ahead to Lingenfelter. Lingenfelter launched a long curving shot off the right post and into the goal. The marker was the first allowed by Buffalo State in SUNYAC play all season. Lingenfelter had a final chance with 30 seconds left, but freshman goalie Taylor Carillo (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) charged out to make the stop.

In goal, Thibeau finished with a season-high 12 saves, including seven in the second half.

Prior to the game Potsdam honor its nine seniors: Alex Guidarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas), Madison Mahar (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater), Thibeau, Kaylen Van Wagner (Red Hook, N.Y./Hotchkiss), Michaela Cole (Parishville, N.Y./Parishville-Hopkinton), Amanda Peterson (West Chazy, N.Y./Beekmantown), Abbey LaPage (North Bangor, N.Y./Franklin Academy), Kaleigh Zappia (Massena, N.Y./Massena) and Sara Livecchi (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook).

The Bears close out SUNYAC play on the road next weekend as they head to Geneseo on Friday and Brockport on Saturday.
