GENESEO, N.Y.—No. 22 SUNY Geneseo (7-4, 1-3 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (4-6, 1-3) 18-3 in a SUNYAC contest this afternoon. Emily Haggerty had a game-high five goals and one assist for the Blue Knights, while Katey Hart chipped in another four goals and a helper. Sophomore midfielder Margaret Wall, sophomore attack Bailey Weigel and freshman Maggie McCabe each scored for the Bears.

Wall evened the score with an assist from Weigel at 26:49 of the first half after a Haggerty tally just 1:02 into the game. Geneseo then went on a 13-0 run spanning 32 minutes until the 24:12 mark of the second half. At that point Weigel broke the streak with an unassisted goal. The Blue Knights scored the next four and McCabe capped the scoring on another Weigel assist with 10 seconds remaining in the contest.

In goal, junior Jen Chmiel finished with 13 saves for Potsdam. Julie Bernatzky made five saves on seven shots on goal in the first 48:28 and Laura Passamonte allowed one goal on two shots in the final 11:32.

The Blue Knights outshot the Bears 40-10 and edged Potsdam in ground balls (17-11) and draw controls (13-10). Weigel, who leads the SUNYAC in draw controls (70) and draw controls-per-game (7.00), hauled in another seven.
