The St. Lawrence University softball team lost both games of a non-conference doubleheader against nationally-ranked No. 15 Plattsburgh State on Monday in Plattsburgh, NY.  The Cardinals blanked the Saints, 7-0, in game one and followed with an 8-4 win in game two.

First-year infielder Caroline Kieltyka had two hits, two RBI's and a run scored in the second game, while fellow rookies Rebecca Allen and Khalshia White also added RBI's.  The losses drop St. Lawrence to 8-16 on the season, while Plattsburgh State improves to 28-4.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of game one when Erin Florkiewicz stole home on senior pitcher Rachel Duffany.  Though the home team would add three runs in both the fifth and seventh innings, the offense was plenty for Ashley Marshall, who allowed only two hits in 7.0 innings to earn her 15th win of the season.  Marshall struck out 12 in the win and didn't walk a single batter.

Allen and White recorded the only base hits for the Saints in game one, as Duffany suffered the loss after allowing seven earned runs on eight hits.

Plattsburgh State jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings of the second half of the doubleheader, taking control of the game early.  Katie McKally homered to center to plate two of the team's three runs in the first inning, while Brianna Clarke and Nicole Diemer added RBI singles in the second for the five-run cushion.

St. Lawrence would get on the board in the top of the third, as Allen drove in rookie Leslie Stratton on a fielder's choice.  However, the Cardinals responded with three runs in the fourth on three hits and two errors to put the game away up 8-1.  The Saints did score three times in the bottom of the seventh, thanks to a two-run homer by Kieltyka and a solo homer by White to cap the scoring at 8-4.

Heather Loughran improved to 13-1 on the season after scattering nine hits and allowing four runs for Plattsburgh, while sophomore Liz McGinley took the loss after allowing five earned runs in 2.0 innings for the Saints.  Senior Meg Goodemote pitched 4.0 innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits.

St. Lawrence will be celebrating "Senior Day" when the team hosts Hamilton College on Wednesday, April 27 at Saints Softball Field.  The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30pm.
