Nine Saints win as women's swimming beats Utica

The St. Lawrence women's swimming team won its final road dual meet of the season on Saturday behind nine individual wins over Utica College 137-112.

Senior Gabriella Marchetti and first-year Christina Felchner led the Saints with two wins on the afternoon, while Heather Foley, Meg Musser, Madeline Holodnik, Darla Long and Taylor McClung had single victories.

Marchetti paced the Saints in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:42.14) and 200 butterfly (2:21.51), while Felchner and senior Becca Raab finished first and second, respectively, in the sprint freestyle events.

In the 50, Felchner edged Raab with a time of 26.26 to the senior's 26.31. Felchner swam a 56.39 in the 100, with Raab not far behind at 57.20.

The Saints also swept the top three spots in both the 200 backstroke and 500 freestyle. In the back, Musser led teammates Long and Rachel Madore to the well with a time of 2.19.99. Madeline Holodnik was the winner in a trio of Saints in the 500 free, beating McClung and classmate Maddie Lares by more than 30 seconds in 5:29.39.

The Saints will finish their dual meet schedule in the Augsbury Pool on Sunday afternoon against Saint Michael's at 1 p.m.
