First-year forward Hannah Miller helped the St. Lawrence women's hockey team erase a two-goal deficit against the Union Dutchwomen with the first two goals of her collegiate career on Saturday afternoon at Appleton Arena. The Saints battled back to earn a 4-2 victory and move into sole possession of fourth place in the ECAC Hockey standings and are only two points out of second.

"That was a very good win for our team," Head Coach Chris Wells said. "Union played hard and was opportunistic in the second period with their chances."

Union opened up a two-goal lead on the Saints in the first five minutes and 40 seconds of the middle frame on goals by seniors Christine Valente and Alex Tancrell-Fontaine, the latter of which came with the Dutchwomen on the power play.

At the 8:11 mark of the second, on the Saints 23rd shot of the game, Miller was able to crack senior netminder Shenae Lundberg and cut the deficit in half with a laser from the bottom of the right circle with Alex Moore assisting.

Union went into the third period up 2-1, but fellow first-year Kennedy Marchment wasted little time evening things at 2-2, as she notched her 11th of the season at the 2:40 mark of the final frame. Brooke Webster fed Marchment in the right circle and the Courtice, Ont. native snapped off a quick shot that snuck past the outstretched pads of Lundberg and just inside the far post.

Miller put the Saints in front for good with a highlight reel goal at the 14:17 mark after she intercepted a clear attempt by the Dutchwomen at the blue line. She then deked around two defenders before lifting the puck over Lundberg's shoulder on the short side.

With Lundberg on the bench for the extra attacker, Brooke Webster took a pass from senior Kayla Raniwsky and buried an empty-net insurance goal with 1:17 to play in the third period to increase the St. Lawrence lead to 4-2.

"Lundberg was solid all night and we were fortunate to get the three behind her," Wells added. "It was a fun game to watch and be in; both teams competed very hard and clean."

The Union goaltender finished with an impressive 47 saves, as the Saints went on to outshoot the visitors 51-16 thanks to a 22-shot third period. Brooke Wolejko made 14 stops for the Scarlet and Brown.

Now 12-8-3 overall and 8-3-2 against conference opponents, the Saints will wrap up the non-conference portion of their schedule with a two-game series against Mercyhurst at home next weekend. The puck drops on Friday's matchup at 3:30 p.m.
