Clinton, NY – Junior Zach Meade (Tupper Lake, NY) won a two-hole playoff to claim medalist honors as the SUNY Canton men's golf team opened their 2014 season on Sunday at the Utica College Fall Invitational at Skenandoa Golf Club.

After 18 holes of golf Meade and Elmira College's Jarryd tenVaanholt could not be separated as both players shot a round of 2-over par, 73. Meade would win the tiebreaker on the second playoff hole to capture medalist honors.

Sophomore Nolan Reid (Champlain, NY) was close behind shooting a 78, which tied him for sixth place overall. Jeff Mott (Waddington, NY) carded an 82 on the day, while Steve McCorduck (Oriskany, NY) and Carter Brock (Albany, NY) posted scores of 92 and 93, respectively.

The Roos finished in fourth place out of the seven-team field with an overall score of 325. In a hard-fought match Elmira took home the team title with 311 strokes. Scranton University (315) and Stevens Institute of Technology (318) rounded out the top three.
