Johnson, VT – Àine McMorrow (Dublin Knocklyon, Ireland) continued her early season dominance winning her third invitational in four outings as the SUNY Canton women's cross country team finished in second place on Saturday at the Johnson State College Invitational.
McMorrow covered the 5-kilometer course in 21:38, 1:32 faster than any other competitor in the 35-runner field. Samantha Smith (Mooers Forks, NY) and Keara Byrne (Queensbury, NY) finished in sixth and eighth places, respectively.
Jess Nagy (Budd Lake, NJ) and Schynia Petteys (Porter Corners, NY) crossed the line in consecutive places (13th and 14th) in times of 26:47 and 26:49 to round out the Roos top five. Kim McCarthy (Ludlow, MA) and Allison Fink (Saranac, NY) completed the sixth and seven displacing runners for SUNY Canton.
The Roos finished with 42 team points, just behind first place Southern Vermont (35). Green Mountain College (65), Johnson State College (102) and Thomas College (113) finished in third, fourth and fifth places.
