Canton, NY – Àine McMorrow (Dublin Knocklyon, Ireland) won her fourth race of the season besting the rest of the field by one minute and 53 seconds on her way to the individual title at the American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Conference Meet Saturday on the campus of SUNY Canton.
McMorrow covered the 6-kilometer course in 22:55 finishing 1:53 ahead of second place Lindsey Thiel of Alfred State College. Madeline Hewitt (Fabius, NY) covered the course in 27:30 good for sixth place out of the 22 runner field. Kim McCarthy (Ludlow, MA) crossed the line in 30:00 minutes finishing in 14th place.
Schnyia Petteys (Porter Corners, NY) and Michaela O'Riley (Gouverneur, NY) rounded out the Roo competitors in 19th (32:23) and 22nd (40:56) places, respectively. SUNY Canton finished in third place out of three teams with 58 points. SUNY Delhi (32) edged Alfred State (40) for the team title.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
Anthony Fazio (Highland, NY) paced the Roo men covering the course in 30:22 good for 17th place out of 37 runners. Paul Ford (Ausable Forks, N Y) had an impressive race for Canton in 31:17 (21st) followed closely by Kyle Lorey (Corning, NY) in 31:27 (22nd).
Luke Ducharme (Brushton, NY) was the fourth runner across the line in 24th place (31:51), while Jonathan Dunham (Edmeston, NY) rounded out the top five in 33:25 (32nd). The men finished in third place out of three teams with 84 points. SUNY Delhi (15) recorded a perfect score in first place followed by Alfred State (48).
MEN'S RESULTS
The cross country teams return to the trails on November 11th when they close out their 2016 season at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championships in Virginia Beach, VA.
