Geneseo, NY – Devin McDonald recorded a 20 save shutout and Tyson Empey scored twice as the No. 7 nationally-ranked SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team earned a 7-0 win v. SUNY Canton on Friday night in Geneseo.
Carson Kelley, Tanner Salsberry and David Szmyd scored first period goals to give host Geneseo () a 3-0 lead after one.
Empey add his 16th of the season to up the Blue Knight lead to four after 40 minutes of play. Empey, Arthur Gordon and Teddy McCabe added third period tallies for the 7-0 final.
Austin Washkurak made 12 stops in the first period, while Michael Cerasuolo turned aside 23 shots in the second and third periods for the Roos (). Devin McDonald made 20 stops in the shutout for Geneseo.
The Knights did a majority of their damage on the power play going 4-for-7, while Canton was 0-for-6 with the skater advantage.
These two teams will have a rematch on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Geneseo.
