Amanda McClure scored two goals and Hannah Miller added three assists as the fifth-ranked St. Lawrence University women's hockey team scored four first-period goals en route to a 4-1 win over Yale University in an ECAC Hockey contest on Saturday afternoon at Appleton Arena.

The Saints (18-2-2, 10-1-1 ECAC Hockey) dominated the first period, outshooting the Bulldogs 21-6 and scoring two goals in the final 78 seconds of the period.

"That first period was one of our best of the year," said head coach Chris Wells '92. "Yale plays a very fast game and we were able to limit some of their chances and capitalize on ours. Grace (Harrison) made a great breakaway save when it was 1-0 and we quickly converted with three goals after that, and that was the difference."

Kennedy Marchment got the Saints on the board just over five minutes into the game, tipping in a feed from Miller on a rush in transition. Alex Moore also got an assist on the play.

McClure scored her first goal of the game about six minutes later on a blast from the left faceoff circle, with Miller and Marchment assisting on the play.

McClure scored her second goal of the game with just 1:18 to play in the period, taking a pass from Miller and firing a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle into the top left corner. Brooke Webster added an assist on the play.

Nadine Edney capped the scoring in the period with a highlight reel goal, skating all the way from her own defensive end and beating two Yale defenders before flipping a backhand shot past Yale goaltender Tera Hofmann. Justine Reyes started the play, tipping a loose puck to Edney after Harrison stopped a shot.

Mallory Souliotis ended Harrison's shutout bid with a power play goal in the third period, a wrist shot from the slot into the top right corner of the net.

Harrison finished the game with 20 saves, while Hofmann stopped 17 shots in the loss for the Bulldogs (5-11-1, 3-7-1) before being relieved by Kyra O'Brien before the second period began. O'Brien stopped all 18 shots she faced.

The Saints will host Colgate and Cornell next weekend at Appleton Arena.
