McClung breaks school record, leads Saints women's swimming at RIT
Demi McClung started the day with a school-record performance in the 100-yard breaststroke, then added a win in the 200 fly to lead the St. Lawrence University women's swimming and diving team at the Don Richards Invitational hosted by RIT on Saturday.
McClung, who had a second-place finish in the 50 free on Friday, posted a time of 1:08.73 in the 100 fly, breaking the record set in 2008 by Hannah Grimes '11. Later in the afternoon, she easily outpaced the competition in the 200 breaststroke, building a 1.13-second lead through the first 100 and continuing to pull away, finishing in 2:26.89 for a 1.53-second margin of victory.St. Lawrence finished tied with Vassar for second in the six-team invitational with 602 points. Host RIT won the team title with 909 points.
Madeline Holodnik (100 free) and Amanda Meurer (200 fly) also had third-place finishes for the Saints, who have now closed out the fall semester competition schedule.
