Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team continued its perfect start to the season as Randy Mayer (Akron, NY) scored his first collegiate goal and Austin Lamay (Malone, NY) recorded his third consecutive shutout in a 1-0 win against visiting Skidmore College on Saturday.

After a scoreless opening half the Roos took advantage of a great opportunity early in the second half. Hunter Mowery (Elizabethtown, NY) made a strong move beating his defender down the left sideline. He cut in towards goal at the left endline and hit a cutting Mayer perfectly inside the box. Mayer struck a one-timer into the left corner of the net for his first collegiate goal.

Skidmore held a 16-11 shots advantage, but the Roos were more precise with their attempts owning a 9-7 shots on target edge. Lamay made a season-high seven stops in net for the Roos in his third shutout of the year. Danny Ebenstein turned aside eight shots for the Thoroughbreds.

The men's soccer team will put its perfect record on the line on Wednesday when it travels up Route 11 to take on SUNY Potsdam at 4:00 p.m. The Bears dropped a 4-1 decision to Skidmore on Friday.

The men's soccer team's captains Hunter Mowery and Jordan Barriere honored SUNY Canton President, Dr. Zvi Szafran, with a Roos jersey prior to Saturday's contest.
