Aurora, NY – Collin Lynk and Wilson Matos posted three hits each but Wells College earned a 7-6 walk-off win in 10 innings over the SUNY Canton baseball team on Thursday afternoon.
SUNY Canton (3-8) plated a pair of runs in the first and third innings and added one run each in the fifth and sixth frames. Wilson Matos scored as Collin Lynk reached on an error and Lynk scored on a Joseph Dwy RBI single. In the third Lynk singled home Travis Schindler and Matos reached home following a wild pitch.
Wells (8-2) took a 5-4 lead with three runs in the third and two in the fourth inning. Canton knotted the game at five in the fifth inning on a Brandon Bautista solo shot to right field. Lynk continued his strong outing with an RBI double down the left field line to put the Roos up 6-5 in the sixth.
The Express tied the game in the bottom of the eighth forcing extra innings and Brandon Shirley plated Dylan Nolan on an RBI single to earn a walk-off victory for Wells in the bottom of the 10th.
Zack Newman took the loss for the Roos tossing three innings and giving up two earned runs with two walks and three strike outs. Zach Kemp earned the win for Wells giving up three earns and no runs over three innings.
The baseball team returns to the diamond on Sunday when it visits Hamilton College for a doubleheader at 12:30 p.m.
