Canton, NY – Allison Wakefield made 11 saves but visiting Maine Maritime Academy scored a pair of second half goals to earn a 2-0 win in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Saturday.

The Mariners (6-1, 2-0 NAC) owned a 4-1 shots on goal and 4-0 corner kicks advantage in the opening half but four saves from Wakefield kept the game scoreless at intermission. Delanie Baker registered the lone shot on goal of the game for the Roos (2-6, 0-2 NAC) in the first half.

Susana DeFrank got the Mariners on the board in the 61st minute following a Canton defensive clearance. She caught Wakefield off her line as DeFrank launched a 30-yard shot over the retreating keeper.

MMA doubled its lead in the 83rd minute on a nicely executed give-and-go from Eryn Doiron and Makayla Lewis. Lewis returned the pass to Doiron on a through ball and she finished into the right corner past a charging Wakefield.

Wakefield stopped 11 of the 13 shots she faced on the day, while Emily Conway made one stop in the shutout for the Mariners.

The women's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday when it visits Alfred State College at 7 p.m.
