Hannah Miller scored two goals and added an assist, 14 different players registered at least one point, and Kennedy Marchment became the 26th member of the Saints' 100 point club with a pair of assists as the fifth-ranked St. Lawrence University women's hockey team defeated Union 8-1 in an ECAC Hockey contest on Friday night at Messa Rink in Schenectady, N.Y.

Seven different players scored goals, including rookie blue-liner Amanda Butterfield, whose shorthanded tally with 12 seconds to play was her first collegiate goal.

"We were able to get an early jump on Union tonight and that made all the difference," said head coach Chris Wells '92. "We had contributions from a number of players today, and that is always good this time of year."

St. Lawrence scored four goals in a span of six minutes and four seconds to take a 4-0 into the locker room after the first period. Miller got things started at the 13:17 mark, and goals by Maggie McLaughlin, Kayla Vespa and Brooke Webster followed.

Union's Eastyn Yuen got the Dutchwomen on the board at the 6:33 mark of the second period, but the Saints quickly restored the four-goal lead, with Lydia Grauer scoring just 24 seconds later. Miller scored her second of the game just 32 seconds after that, and Kirsten Padalis scored in the final minute of the period to give the Saints a 7-1 lead at the end of the second period.

Webster finished the game with a goal and two assists, while Padalis and Butterfield both had a goal and an assist.

Marchment's two-point game brings her career total to 101 points. She is the 12th junior in St. Lawrence's NCAA Division I history to reach the century mark, and with just 97 games played, is the seventh fastest to do so.

Grace Harrison made 18 saves in net for the Saints, while Kate Spooner took the loss, making 12 saves in the first period. Amelia Murray played the second and third periods for Union, stopping 14 shots, as the Saints held a 34-19 advantage in shots on goal.

St. Lawrence improved to 20-3-2 overall, 12-2-1 in ECAC Hockey games, and remains in second place in the conference standings, just two points behind Clarkson and three points ahead of third-place Cornell. Union fell to 4-22-1, 1-13-1.

The Saints will face Rensselaer at Houston Field House on Saturday at 3 p.m.
