Plattsburgh, NY – Edward Malinoski, Jr. scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season to get the Roos within one but Plattsburgh State earned a 3-1 non-conference victory on Tuesday afternoon.
Taka Fukushima got the scoring started for Plattsburgh in the 40th minute when Michael Ciardullo found him for his fourth goal of the season. The Roos and Cardinals both had three shots apiece on target as the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into intermission.
The Cardinals (6-6-3) doubled their lead in the 54th minute when Alex Price picked out Ankit Patel on a pass as he delivered his first score of the season.
The Roos (7-7-2) got on the board in the when Malinoski converted a penalty kick beating Cardinal keeper Gustav Norin off the left post and in. SUNY Canton earned the PK after Connor Bruyn drew a foul near the edge of the 18.
Price scored off a loose ball deflection with just over three minutes remaining to seal the win for Plattsburgh.
The men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday when it visits Thomas College at 3:30 p.m.
