First Year Margaret MacDonald cracked the top 100 finishers, helping St. Lawrence University's women's cross country team to a 24th place finish in the 40-team, Division I dominated Women's Gold 6 K race at the Paul Short Cross Country races at Lehigh on Friday.

The Saints, one of two Division III teams in the field, finished with 692 points, eight in front of the University of Maryland, which was 25th. The race drew a national field and included Rice University, the University of Tennessee, Villanova, Georgetown and the entire Ivy League. Cornell won the team title with 55 points with the College of William and Mary second with 102 and Georgetown third with 106. Johns Hopkins was the other Division III team in the field and finished 15th.

MacDonald ran 22:02 to lead the Saints with a 92nd place finish. Classmate Ella Martin ran 22:22 and was 122nd with junior Amy Cymerman finishing 127th in 22:25, and junior Ariel Beccia 148th in 22:29 as the top four Saint runners were separated by only 27 seconds. Lizzy Edwards completed the Saint scoring with a 203rd place finish in 23:13 while Anne Martino (223rd in 23:34) and Caroline Raue (224th in 23:35) completed the Saint top seven.

Jess Marini was 281st in 23:56 and Jackie Lemme ran 24:25 and was 316th in a 360 runner field.

In the non-scoring women's college open race, Toria Koutras was 103rd in 24:05, Anna Rabideau finished 105th in 24:09, Kelsey Leder was 125th in 24:29, Kate Sneden was 135th in 24:38 and Jenny VanOoyen was 209th in 26:01. A total of 293 runners completed the 6K race.

The Saints will return to Division III competition on Oct. 6 when they host the Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational.
