Elmira, NY – Collin Lynk went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs including the game-winner in the top of the ninth as the SUNY Canton baseball team earned a 9-8 win at Elmira College on Saturday evening.

The Roos improve to 7-23 overall and 4-9 in Empire 8 play, while the Soaring Eagles drop to 4-26 and 2-13.

With the game tied at eight Wilson Matos led off the ninth with a single up the middle and Brett Hoberman drew a walk. With two out in the inning Matos stole third and scored on a Lynk RBI single that fell between the shortstop and left fielder.

Anthony Tur, who threw two innings, allowed a two out single in the bottom half of the inning but shut the door striking out Heggie on a full count to secure the win.

Travis Schindler went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, while Edward Malinoski, Jr. also drove in a pair of runs. Brandon Bautista also had two hits with a pair of doubles for the Roos.

Jake Vierno earned the no-decision giving up three earned runs but struck out 10 batters, while Tur gave up just two hits and no runs with three strike outs in two innings of relief.

These two teams will close out their weekend series with a doubleheader on Sunday at 12 p.m.
