The St. Lawrence University men's golf team opened competition at the 2014 Hershey Cup on Sunday at Hershey Country Club East in Hershey, PA. The Saints were led by Brandon Lustig, who fired 79 in the opening round to land in 30th place.
Lustig posted a back nine round of 37 (+2) on the par 71 course measuring out at 7,061 yards to come home with the lone sub-80 round for St. Lawrence on day one. He birdied the par-4 12th hole then closed with three straight pars to post his team's best score.
Jake Danforth followed one stroke back in 37th place after an 80, while Brady Garrett (83) and captain Matt Barbuzzi (88) rounded out the team's scoring at a total of 330 for 14th position in the team standings. Jack Reardon (89) also competed for the Scarlet and Brown.
The individual leaders on day one include Rochester's Nick Palladino, Allegheny's Oliver White and McDaniel's Alex Kane, who all fired a +2 round of 73.
Franklin & Marshall lead the way with a day one total of 301 (+17), four strokes clear of Washington & Jefferson and five ahead of McDaniel.
Round two gets underway tomorrow, Monday, April 7.
