Saratoga Springs, NY - Sophomore Ashley Loggins (Albany, NY) shot 11-for-14 from the floor for a career-high 28 points, but her effort wasn't enough for the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team as the Golden Knights dropped a 64-53 decision to Skidmore College on Tuesday evening.

The Golden Knights dropped a game below .500 both overall and in conference games, moving to 8-9 overall and 4-5 in the Liberty League. Skidmore improved to 9-11 and 4-7.

Clarkson, or more appropriate Loggins, couldn't miss in the early going, as Loggins had 11 points in the first five minutes of the game as the Knights gained a 13-8 advantage after a layup from the game's high scorer at the 15:02 mark. However, Clarkson would endure a very long scoreless stretch that almost saw the team go pointless for the remainder of the half. Loggins made a layup and a free throw with 23 seconds to go in the half, ending a 14 minute, 39 second drought. Skidmore didn't take much advantage with its own seven-minute quiet period, and headed into the locker room with only a 19-16 lead.

In the second half, Skidmore gained a small lead in the early going, but Clarkson rallied back to tie the score thanks to some strong shooting from junior guard Jovanna Snead (Poughkeepsie, NY). The Knights never regained the lead, however, and fould themselves down by three with just over two minutes to go. Some clutch shooting from the outside and from the free throw line by Skidmore ended the Knights' hopes of a comeback.

Loggins recorded 28 points, a new career-high that surpassed her 27-point effort against William Smith in January 2013, and added in three assists and three steals. Snead produced 13 points, going 4-for-6 from the field a perfect 3-for-3 from the 3-point line. For Skidmore, Jordyn Wartts and Molly McLaughlin each tallied 16 points. Clarkson shot better than Skidmore in the game, but the Thoroughbreds had 17 second-chance points compared to Clarkson's two. The Knights were limited to just four offensive rebounds in the game.
