Linder, Kinsey earn meet honors as Saints win Liberty League track and field title

Sophomores Kristen Linder and Hannah Kinsey were named the outstanding field and track performers of the meet, helping St. Lawrence University's women's outdoor track and field team to the 2012 Liberty League championship at Rensselaer on Saturday.

The Saint women, winning the outdoor title for the first time since 2008, swept the Liberty League track and field championships for 2012. The Saints finished with 228 points with RPI second with 128, Vassar third with 117, RIT fourth with 99, Union fifth with 33 and Bard sixth with 14.

The Saints had 10 individual champions in the meet, headed by Kinsey, who won the 100 in a Liberty League record 12.51 seconds and the 200 in 26.15. The two wins increase Kinsey's total of league championships to eight as she has won every Liberty League sprint title both indoors and outdoors in her first two seasons.

Linder accounted for 22 points in the throws, winning the shot with a 11.79 meter throw, finishing second behind teammate Heather Cutler in the discus and adding a fourth in the hammer. Cutler won the discus with a 34.95 meter throw with Jessica Tyree adding a third place finish. Jessica Ingalls was second in the shot with Tyree sixth and Cutler added a sixth in the hammer.

Senior Jenna Hulton won her sixth career Liberty League championship with a win in 4:44.8 in the 1600 with Ariel Beccia fourth and Megan Hulton sixth and Jenna Hulton added a third in the 800. Other Saint champions included McKayla Nuffer, who won the 5000 in 18;35.56, Elizabeth Edwards with a 40:34.28 10,000 meters, Carly Stine with a win in 16.01 in the 100 hurdles, Jessica Marini with a time in 1:07.24 in the 400 hurdles and Divya Biswal with a 11.15 meter jump in the triple jump.

The Saints scored 22 points in the 400 hurdles with Stine finishing third, Cassia Haemelin fourth and Marissa Rescott fifth and had 21 points in the triple jump as Tori Bean was second, Emily Rebehn fifth and Eliza Bell sixth. Biswal added a second in the long jump at 5.35 meters while Caitlin Boreyko was second at 2.95 meters and Taylor Washington was fourth in the pole vault.

Bell shared the Liberty League record in the high jump, finishing second on attempts at 1.61 meters with Stine fifth while Samantha Weber finished second in the javelin at 30.89 meters with Ingalls fourth and Staci Czaja fifth. Czaja also scored with a third in the 400 while Diedra Beller was fith and Kendra Sultzer sixth in the steeplechase.

The Saints 4x100 relay team of Samantha Yee, Bean, Marini and Rebehn finished third while the 4x400 relay of Stine, Marini, Rebehn and Czaja was second.
