The St. Lawrence men's hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Friday night, but No. 15/18 Harvard stormed all the way back and Jack Badini's goal with 1:22 remaining in the third period handed the Saints a heartbreaking 3-2 loss in Appleton Arena.

David Jankowski notched his team-best seventh goal of the season, while Ryan Garvey added the second St. Lawrence goal, both of which came in the first 10 minutes of the opening frame. Carson Gicewicz now leads the Saints in scoring with 14 points after picking up a pair of assists against the Crimson.

At 6:18 of the first period, after Gicewicz kept the play alive with a rim around the end boards, Jankowski finished off a centering pass from Michael Ederer at the edge of the crease and beat Harvard's Michael Lackey to put the Saints in front 1-0.

Minutes later Keenan Suthers and Gicewicz teamed up to win a battle on the half way and Gicewicz hit Garvey cutting through the slot for a point-blank shot that hit Lackey square in the chest. The Harvard netminder couldn't control the rebound, though, and Garvey tucked home the rebound to extend the Saints' lead to 2-0.

Harvard cut the deficit in half with Casey Dornbach's goal at 13:01 as he ripped a one-timer from the bottom of the left circle and beat Emil Zetterquist over the blocker with Henry Bowlby and Jack Drury assisting on the play.

Shots were even through 20 minutes at 10 apiece, but the Crimson went on to outshoot the Saints 18-4 in the second period and 40-20 in the game.

The Crimson hit two posts in the opening minutes of the third period, first off the stick of John Marino and later on a shot by Michael Floodstrand. Not long after Floodstrand's bid was stopped by iron, Lewis Zerter-Gossage was able to put one behind Zetterquist to tie the game at 2-2.

Zerter-Gossage's shot was the third for the Crimson in a flurry in front of the net, as Zetterquist made saves on shots from Jack Rathbone and Baker Shore, but was unable to stop Harvard's captain at 7:08 of the final frame.

Badini's goal late in regulation was a tip in the slot, as he got his stick on a shot into traffic by Harvard's leading scorer Adam Fox.

The Saints pulled Zetterquist with 43 seconds remaining, but were unable to generate any scoring chances with the extra attacker.

The Crimson came into Friday's game averaging 34.6 percentage on the power play, but the Saints were strong on the kill and managed to hold their opponents' top-ranked power play at bay, as both team's finished 0-2 with the man advantage.

Zetterquist finished with 37 saves in the loss, including 18 in the second period alone, while Harvard's Lackey had 18 saves total on Friday night.

With the loss, their sixth one-goal loss of the season, the Saints fall to 4-24-1 overall and 2-14-1 in conference games. Harvard improves to 14-7-3 on the year, with a 10-5-2 mark against ECAC Hockey teams.

St. Lawrence will return to Appleton Arena on Saturday, February 16 to host Dartmouth at 7 p.m.
