Yale used a long stretch pass on a cherry picker play with just over a minute to play in regulation and scored the game-winning goal on a two-on-one rush to take a 4-3 ECAC Hockey victory over St. Lawrence on Friday night.

Wing John Hayden sent a long pass out of his own zone after breaking up some Saint offensive pressure and found Joe Snivley at the Saint blue line. Snively in turn relayed the puck to streaking defenseman Ryan Obuchowski who scored his fourth goal of the year and the game winner on a shot which went in off the inside of the post at 18:57 to keep Yale's hot streak alive and end a six-game unbeaten streak by the Saints.

"It is frustrating the way we lost," said Saint coach Greg Carvel. "To give up a two-on-one with a minute left is inexcusable."I thougth we played them better than we did the first game, but the result was the same. "I thought we had a game plan that we executed pretty well and while the shot totals weren't high, we did create some scoring chances. To score three goals against these guys in this building, we should have been able to come away with at least a point."Yale, the last team to beat SLU prior to Friday, improves to 17-5-3 overall and 12-4-3 in league play while the Saints are 16-12-3, 10-7-2 heading into a Saturday game at Brown. The Saints maintained their hold on fourth in the ECAC standings, but have company as Dartmouth moved into a tie with a win.

Yale outshot the Saints 34-19, but SLU scored some key goals and created some good scoring chances with a solid third period, but couldn't come away with the win. Saint goalie Kyle Hayton finished with 30 saves, 26 through the first two periods to give SLU a shot at a win.

SLU took the early lead at 10:46 of the first period as Mike Laidley scored his sixth of the year with a shot inside the far post with Alex Hagen and Alex Dahl assisting, but Yale came back to tie with Hayden scored his 15th of the year after a Saint turnover at 15:54. The Saints went back in front 4:09 into the second as Brian Ward banked a shot into the goal off the back of Yale goalie Alex Lyon for his ninth of the year with Jacob Pritchard and Drew Smolcynski, but Yale tied it again at 8:09 on a four-on-three power play goal by Rob O'Gara.

Yale took the lead 3:35 into the third, turning a neutral zone turnover into a Chris Izmirlian goal, but the Saints came back to tie when Tommy Thompson scored his ninth of the season on a backhander at 12:42 with Ross McMullan and Gavin Bayreuther assisting.
