OSWEGO, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam women's basketball team (1-6, 0-2 SUNYAC) dropped their second game of their SUNYAC road slate to the Oswego Lakers (5-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) Saturday afternoon. Senior guard Katy Briedis led the Bears with 15 points and four rebounds.

Oswego jumped out to a quick six-point lead in the first four minutes of the contest. Sophomore forward Bailey Weigel put Potsdam on the board when she converted on two free throws at the 16-minute mark. The Lakers continued to apply the pressure on both ends with a 22-4 run in the first nine minutes of the game. Sophomore guard Carli Reynolds halted the bleeding with a jump shot from the top of the key at the 11:06 mark. However, Oswego's offense stayed hot throughout the remainder of the half. Senior forward Meagan Stover created problems for the Bears on both ends of the floor, extending the Lakers' lead to 39-16 going into halftime.

The Bears' offensive woes continued in the second half of play. Junior forward Jessica Kouzan got Potsdam off to a fast start with a three-point basket 19 seconds into the half. Once again, the Lakers responded when senior guard Kassie Kleine gathered a pass from Stover for an easy layup. The Bears chipped away at the Oswego lead but could not close the large deficit. The Lakers were able to maintain the comfortable lead for the rest of the half and secured the 76-44 decision over the Bears.

Weigel notched 11 points and six boards. Kouzan added nine points and four rebounds. The Bears shot 32% from the floor and only 13% from beyond the arch.

Junior guard Lauren Nunziato and Stover led the Lakers with 16 points apiece. Stover tallied seven steals, four assists, and five rebounds. Oswego shot 55% from the floor and out rebounded Potsdam 38 to 28.

The Bears return to the court Friday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. versus Buffalo State and Saturday, Dec. 8 against Fredonia State at 2 p.m in Welsh Gymnasium.
