POTSDAM, N.Y.—Oswego State (10-4, 6-1 SUNYAC) used hot shooting to down the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (2-10, 1-5) 70-59 on Saturday afternoon at Jerry Welsh Gymnasium. Bears senior guard Rishawd Hendricks (Brooklyn, N.Y./Mount Zion Christian Academy) matched his career-high with 20 points to go with eight rebounds and senior captain Zac Adams (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) added 15 points. Laker senior forward Rashawn Powell (Endicott, N.Y./Johnson City) paced Oswego with 15 points, nine boards and four blocks.

The first half saw the Lakers jump out to a 22-10 lead by the 10:24 mark, but Potsdam answered with a 7-0 run to close to within five. Hendricks started the run with a three followed by a layup from senior forward Conor Engle (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) and a jumper by Adams. Oswego closed the half with a 12-4 stretch and took a 34-21 lead into the break.A Powell layup just over two minutes into the second half gave Oswego its largest lead of the contest at 40-23. The lead hovered around 12 points over the next 11 minutes. Potsdam made its final charge with 6:49 left. Junior forward Tariq McIntyre (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson), Adams and junior guard Joe Estramonte (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich) each hit buckets in succession to get the Bears within 57-50. However, Laker junior forward Alex Rawa (Locust Valley, N.Y./Locust Valley) answered with a 3-pointer to extinguish the momentum. Oswego closed the game with a 13-9 run, including hitting 8-of-9 from the charity stripe, to take the 70-59 decision.

Estramonte finished with 10 points on the afternoon and Potsdam freshman guard Kyle Santoro (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) had a personal best eight points. Lakers junior guard Walter Sampson (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) scored 14 points and was 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Brian Sortino (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) chipped in another 13 for Oswego. The Lakers shot a scorching 56.5-percent from the floor during the game.

The Bears head to Plattsburgh to take on the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.
