OSWEGO, N.Y.—Oswego State (2-2-1, 2-1 ECAC West) scored three third period goals to cement a 4-0 victory over the SUNY Potsdam women's hockey (0-4, 0-2). Four different Lakers scored in the contest.
After a scoreless first period, Lizzy Marks notched the eventual game-winner at 9:46 of the second period. Nearly five minutes into the second stanza, former Bear Emma Smetaniuk made it a 2-0 contest on the power play. At 9:02, Mady Paul scored an even-strength marker to make it 3-0. Two minutes later, Chelsea Hunt iced the game with another goal on the man advantage.
In goal, senior Jen Conophy made 18 saves. Lakers goaltender Bridget Smith stopped all 22 shots she faced. Both teams fired 22 shots on goal. The Bears were 0-5 on the power play, while Oswego was 2-6.
Potsdam will try to shake off a slow start with a rematch at Oswego tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
