(Rochester, N.Y.)- Senior Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) dropped in 20 points as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team lost to Roberts Wesleyan College 85-45 Saturday afternoon in their season opener in Rochester.
The Roos (0-1) have been bitten by the injury bug this preseason as they dressed just seven players against the Raiders and were without several regulars who have gone down with injuries.
LaFave, who was the Sunrise Conference Player of the Year in her junior season, was 9-for-17 from the field and sank 4 of 6 free throws. She also grabbed seven rebounds.
Sophomore Abbey Shoen (Waddington, N.Y.) had a solid all-around game with nine points, four rebounds and two blocks. Junior Brittany Kenyon (Hammond, N.Y.) added seven points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Raiders were led by Brittany McMillon who had 16 points, six rebounds and four steals. Marissa Bunce contributed 15 points and six assists.
