Lady Saints defeat Raptors, 49-34

The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team defeated Bard College by the score of 49-34 in Saturday afternoon's Liberty League contest in the Burkman Gymnasium. The win is the Saints' eighth straight as they improve to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the league. Meanwhile, the Raptors fall to 7-7 and 1-4 in the league.

Sophomore Kara McDuffee led the Saints with 14 points, six rebounds and three steals, while junior captain Cassie St. Hilaire scored 11 points and six rebounds. Junior Kelly Legg tallied 11 rebounds, six points and five blocks, while sophomore Ally Cady added six points and dished out five assists. First-year student Amanda Roberts and junior captain Hannah Wilson combined for ten assists in the game.

St. Lawrence held Bard to just six first half points (2-for-22), while taking a 22-6 lead into the locker room. The Saints stretched their lead to as many as 20 points (28-8) at 15:52 in the second half before the Raptors went on a 19-7 run over the next 8:00 minutes to come within eight points (35-27) with 7:55 to play. The Saints, however, finished the game with a 14-7 run to put the game away, despite the Raptors shooting 46.2% in the second half.

St. Lawrence forced 25 Bard turnovers while committing nine. The Raptors, however, outrebounded the Saints 43-36 in the game. St. Lawrence shot 34.9% from the floor and had 20 assists in the game, while Bard finished shooting 29.2%.

St. Lawrence will travel to Clarkson on Jan. 15 to take on the Golden Knights in a Liberty League contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00pm in Potsdam, NY.
